Loads
of great catch reports coming in, nearly all from anglers on the
V12 boilies... their success grows.
Nige had a very deserved big hit last weekend on his chosen Essex
syndicate lake, one of those times when the fish just go mad and
stay in the swim munching on the bait and throw caution to the wind.
Over a 24hr period nige landed 10 fish with a 31lb mirror at the
top closely followed by a 28lb common and a handfull of other 20s
too plus a few smaller fish. The 31lb mirror pictured below has
now been out around 7 times this year year and 6 of them on V12
boilies... no coincidence there.
Mark had a trip to Crete lakes in France and took full advantage
of going against the grain by using V12 on all rods rather than
the usual crete lakes baits. On the first day Mark landed a 55lb
mirror, pictured below. He then went on to land a steady stream
of good fish throughout his stay. Well done Mark, the look on your
face shows just how heavy the fish was!
Other reports back in to us include UK fish to 39lb and a string
of PBs to many of the anglers which have chosen to stray from the
well known baits and to give the V12 a go. Well done to all who
have been letting us know just how well they have been doing, every
report back to us is vital to the success of the baits future.
August
2011
Probably
one of the most frustrating months of the carp anglers year is August.
The carp can be seen cruising around the surface but try as we may
to tempt them they just do not want to play ball.
Even though this has been a hard month and many fisheries have reported
very low captures we have still been getting on some decent fish.
During August I have landed 2x 30s, 3x upper 20s and a handful of
upper doubles mainly all falling to V12 or the new protoype V12
B ( Seafood ).

Geoff has been
continuing to be the envy of many on his chosen venue for the summer
and still continues his success using the V12 wafters fished over
varying parcels of pellets, crushed boilies and combinations of
liquid additives. He has used this summer period to perfect his
own glugs which will enable him to go into the winter with total
confidence. Geoff will be producing some articles very soon which
will explain some of his tips which will help you consistantly put
more fish on the bank. Below are a few of the many fish geoff has
caught during testing of his liquid glugs used in conjunction with
the V12 wafters.

July
2011
Another
month has flown by and now we head into the summer month of August,
a vert tricky time of the year when the fish are feeling the pressures
and moving onto naturals. August can be as hard going as fishing
in February, the only concellation is the sight of the carp swimming
around basking in the sun. This can be very frustrating though as,
no matter how hard we try they just will not take a bait....
Moving on with some news on the V12 and it's growing reputation
for catching some magnificent carp both in the Uk and across the
water. There are too many captures to note but all the reports back
all lead to the same answer, the bait is catching and catching very
well even on the most tricky of waters. Geoff is continually picking
off the bigger fish on his chosen venues and has had his best season
so far and to say he is glad he moved onto CW Baits is an understatement!
The V12 is ceretainly working its magic on the syndicate lake, i
have now had 7 fish and 5 of them being 30s, one of the 30s I have
had 3 times in the last few months... no coincidence she just cant
get enough of the V12. Nige and Mark have also been on the fish
with the V12 and really putting it to good use. The new V12 wafters
with the X additive are now available to buy through www.carpfishingpellet.co.uk
in the CW Baits section, they have been in the bait testers buckets
for some time now and have been the envy of fellow anglers around
them. You will be amazed at the results these little barrels can
gain.
Below are a couple of pics from my July fishing trips.

2011
The
last few months have flown by due to hectic schedules getting bait
orders ready and out the door. There has been heaps of emails and
pictures of fish being caught up and down the country, mainly on
V12 freezer boilies. I have, somehow managed to get on the bank
to the syndicate lake of choice for 2011. First visit was just a
quick overnighter to get a feel for the environment and to see what
the lake makeup was like. Once noted I was back for my first 48hr
session, this resulted in one fish, 31lb6oz target fish mirror and
the oldest resident in the lake, around 46yrs old! A stunning fish
with a lot of history. Two weeks later and I was back for my second
48hr trip, not much had been out all week and the conditions did
not look good. The first night passed with a few bream from a heavily
baited area of v12 freezer boilies... this spot was left alone for
a while then for the bream to clear out. After spotting movement
in the reeds during the next day a bait was cast close to the reed
bed ready for the night time feeding spell. This spot was baited
with half a kilo of unboiled v12 paste balls. At 2am I was into
another resident beast which had picked up a prototype v12 wafter
and did not want to be landed! After a 20 minute battle she was
in the net and ready to grce the unhooking mat. After zeroing the
scales I had my second 30 in only 2 sessions, a lovely 32lb4oz mirror.

Our resident
Ebro Guide Nick, has been getting time to test some of our flavour
combinations on the Spanish carp. He has had several fish to 40lb
on the Red Fruits flavour and the catfish have also been getting
in on the act too! Catfish to nearly 200lb on the catcatcher fish
boilies and a magnificent Albino catfish could not resist a catcatcher
fish bait which is far more attractive than the standard halibut
pellets.

Our resident
technical rig guy Geoff is in full swing at the moment catching
fish from every venue he fishes, v12 doing the business once again.
Geoff has produced an article based around the red hemp spod mix
and how to really maximise the time you spend on the bank catching
fish. He has landed a string of 20s over the last few weeks, all
falling for the v12 wafters and red hemp spod mix. The article will
soon be available to download so you can follow every step and put
more fish on the bank.
March
2011
Phil
the owner of CW Baits managed to take time out for a 24hr visit
to Churchwood Fisheries to test out their new CW Red boilies he
has designed for them. The water temperatures had been chilled over
recent nights of heavy frost so not much action was to be expected
so Phil tailored his approach to suit the challenging conditions.
After a bleepless night a re-bait was in order, this proved to be
a wise move because half an hour later Phil was into to a fish.
After a short fight the fish was netted and turned out to be a known
fish by the name of Tom's Common which pulled the scales round to
just over 28lb. Phil used a 14mm V-12 cork dust popup fished over
a bed of crumbed and whole CW Red 14mm boilies.

CatCatcher
catfish baits are given a makeover in terms of some new additives
and a re-design of the base mix to allow for an improved amino acid
profile. New in the range for 2011 are the CatCatcher popups and
the return of the catcatcher pastes.

New Seafood Boilie coming soon for pre-release sales
A new fishmeal
bait will be joining the line-up in the next few weeks, the Seafood
Boilie. The bait is basd on a highly digestible low teperature fishmeal
base loaded with marine and crustacean extracts to give it a nice
crunchy texture and natural shellfish aroma. The bait also contains
optimum levels of enzyme treated yeast and pure betaine to aid digestion
along with shellfish extracts, thaumatin natural protein sweetener,
soya lecithin and salmon oil etc.
The Shelfish boilie will be available on a pre-release offer for
just £5/kg based on 10kg orders in 14mm only. The price also
includes free delivery. Please email for further information on
this exceptional boilie.
V-12
Boilies Update
After a highly
successful testing stage the V-12 Boilies are now in full production.
As with all the CW Baits boilies they will be available in 14mm
round as standard with 10mm, 18mm and 22mm with a min order quantity
of 5kg.
Please be aware that all our boilies are rolled to order, we do
not send out boilies which have previously been frozen. Due to high
demand for the V-12 we are urging customers to please allow 4-5
days to process your order, this will allow us time to roll your
bait fresh and send it out on a next day service at a suitable time
when you will be able to sign for it.
The fedback from all the customers who are now using the V-12 boilies
is as expected, lots of positive notes and fish on the bank, we
cannot ask for more than that.
2010 Boilie
Bait in development - V12
Boilie breakdown
sequence from air dried un-boiled 18mm boilie.
Below
is a sequence of pictures clearly showing the breakdown of a test
boilie over a 24hr period. This un-boiled bait is a prototype of
the new CW Baits freezer boilie due for release during 2011. The
boilie base mix has been trialled over a series of actual fishing
sessions by one of our dedicated bait testers to make sure that
the ingredients selected form a universal boilie which is firm enough
for the throwing stick but still allows the water soluble atractive
ingredients to slowly disperse out of the bait into the surrounding
water. Even though this does not replicate the actual lakebed situation
it does demonstrate how the paste breaks down and releases key atraction
components of the mix.

Picture 1. The prototype CW Baits boilie paste ball once rested
in the water.
Picture 2. 1hr later and the picture already shows how the boilie
is starting to break down and almost explode as ingredients take
on water which in turn releases particles of bait into the water.
Note the orange haze just starting to form around the base of the
glass.
Picture 3. After 2hrs the outer shell of the boilie is really breaking
down and tiny particles of base mix are releasing from the paste
and starting rise up in the water. These small particles carry water
soluble attractors up with them creating trails of attraction coming
from the main boilie. The orange haze can clearly be seen around
the base of the glass now and is starting rise up un the water.
Picture 4. After 4hrs as the bait continues breaking down, the particles
are now beginning to settle around the bait and the bottom of the
glass allowing the water soluble atractors to freely disperse and
work their magic.
Picture 5. Now the orange hase has turned into more of a mist and
the particles are freely releasing into the water forming a soup
like mixture. This soup is loaded full of amino acids and water
soluble atractors which have been added during the mixing stage
of the boilie.
Picture 6. After 8hrs a bed of base mix ingedients have formed around
the bottom of the glass. As the water becomes more saturated with
attractors and particles the density of the water changes, this
enables particles of bait to sit suspended midwater, forming a layer
of atraction which stands clear of the base of the glass.
Picture 7. After twelve ours the boilie paste ball has completely
broken down and sits as a heap of soft particles. The bottom 45mm
of the glass has now become a layer of water soluble attraction
with particles of bait suspended up above the base of the glass.
In this misty, soup like layer we note a significant change in pH
due to the amino acids and water soluble attractors as well as the
change in colour and visibilty. There are also other levels of attraction
we cannot see, chemical reactions as the amino acids disperse, ionisation
of the water from various components which have been released from
the bait. All of these actions added together play a key role in
triggering chemoreceptors of the fish and prove vital in the fish
locating a food source.
Obviously this is only in controlled conditions and does not give
an accurate analysis of the bait in a true fishing situation but
it does illustrate the importance of water soluble attraction and
bait design. Imagine this type of attraction over a baited area
with 50 of these paste bait balls... In still conditions with no
water movement the cloud of attraction would cover quite an area,
then add a little undercurrent from wind movement and this attraction
will move along the lakebed wafting along and gradually rising up
to passing fish. As the baited area will still hold the majority
of the bait the fish will easily be able to follow the trail right
into the baited area where they will find a more concentrated feeding
area contianing your waiting hookbaits.
The development of this bait will continue over the winter period
where water soluble attraction will be vital in the carp being able
to easily locate the bait. Once the bait has been located it still
has to be consumed and digested, this is an entirely different part
of the boilies design and an area which needs a great deal of consideration
if the bait is tom prove a long term and superior food source.
The
new one, V12 from CW Baits... as used in its trial version,
there has been 12 different ingredient combinations of the bait
so far to arrive at this stage. The bait is robust enough for catapults
and throwing sticks and is catching a lot of fish but, it still
needs a lot of testing to fine tune the vast array of natural additives
to get them working at their most effective levels. Making a boilie
that catches fish can be very simple but, making a boilie which
stands up to all types of angling situations and continues to catch
big wary fish time and time again is an entirely different consept
as any of the major bait designers will agree. We continue in our
development...

after 8hrs in the water, the bait remains intact while still allowing
a gradual release of the vital water soluble attractors. Please
note, the bait was removed from the water after 12hrs and the smell
remained the same as it went in. This is partly due to the combination
of liquid and powdered natural attractors.
